SEMI New Activity Report Form (SNARF)

Activity Number: 5033
SNARF for: New Standard:Specification For Ammonia (Nh3) In Cylinders, Xx.Xxx% Quality, Used In Photovoltaic Applications

Originating Global Technical Committee: Photovoltaic
Originating Technical Committee Region: North America
Task Force in which work is to be carried out: PV Gases and Liquids Chemicals Purity Task Force

1. Rationale: The needs of PV end-users differ slightly from those in semiconductor when it comes to gases used during production. Our taskforce will take an existing SEMI document as a template and convert it into an ammonia standard for use in photovoltaic applications.

NOTE: Until the TaskForce researches the need, the % quality cannot be defined for this SNARF.

Rate the Estimated Effect on the Industry
2: Major effect on an industry sector - identify the relevant sector

Rate the Estimated Technical Difficulty of the Activity
II: Some Difficulty - Disagreements on known requirements exist but developing consensus is possible

2. Scope:
a: Define the areas to be covered or addressed by this activity or document:

Purity requirements of ammonia used in the manufacturing of photovoltaic cells.

b: Expected result of activity
New Standard

3. Projected Timetable for Completion:
