SEMI New Activity Report Form (SNARF) |
Activity Number: 5001
SNARF for: Withdrawal of SEMI S9-0307, Guide to Electrical Design Verification Tests for Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment that have been moved to SEMI S22
| Originating Global Technical Committee: EH&S |
| Originating Technical Committee Region: North America |
| Task Force in which work is to be carried out: NA Environmental Health and Safety Committee |
1. Rationale: The need for S9 as a published standard was eliminated with the publication of SEMI S22. However, due to references to S9 in documents from other SDOs, the NA EHS Committee determined that a permanent placeholder document was necessary to ensure that people trying to find S9 would know to look at S22 instead. Part of this determination was dependent on SEMI's procedures for withdrawn standards at that time.
Since then, the procedures for withdrawn standards have changed, and efforts are underway to remove references to S9 in documents from other SDOs. Therefore, the NA EHS Committee has agreed that a permanent placeholder document is no longer necessary, and S9 should be withdrawn.
