1. Rationale: The “Standard for Sensor/Actuator Network Communication Specification for DeviceNet” (SEMI E54.4) lacks specific support for various components of the SEMI E54 Sensor/Actuator Network standard (all subparts) added or revised since the original introduction of the SEMI E54.4 subpart. The proposed activity corrects this by enhancing SEMI E54.4 accordingly.

2. Scope:
a: Define the areas to be covered or addressed by this activity or document:
The Revision proposes enhancements to SEMI E54.4 such as mappings of network-visible specific device model, and common device model attributes and services. These enhancements will be specified as appropriate to better align SEMI E54.4 with the whole of SEMI E54 in a manner consistent with current semiconductor industry deployment of the DeviceNet standard.

The proposed revision makes no changes to the existing status of SEMI E54.4 DeviceNet related copyright or intellectual property considerations currently on file with SEMI.
