1. Charter:

Develop/define standard(s) for unified transport entities (boxes, cassettes, carriers) for production systems of the Photovoltaic (PV) industry.

Standardizing of transport entities it is expected to:

- Reduce efforts on equipment supplier as well as on PV-manufacturer side caused by the need to specify, maintain and operate proprietary transport entities, load port, AMHS…
- Reduce the cost for automated material handling
- Enable higher yield
- Speed up the factory integration and ramp up processes


2. Scope:
Develop one or more standard(s) specifying transport entities for crystalline PV-wafer and PV-cell up to 156mm by 156mm. The taskforce will evaluate the industry requirements with regard to transportation of material within PV manufacturing lines, evaluate existing standards and either adjust existing standards to be used in PV manufacturing or develop new standards to support these requirements.

The taskforce assumes that at least 3 different transport entities have to be standardized:

1. Transport box
2. Transport box (with belts)
3. Transport carrier

The taskforce plans, based on the gathered requirements, to specify the following topics:

1. Mechanical interface to equipment load port (ground plate)
2. Material handling interface
3. Mechanical interface to transport system (manual (e.g. PGV) or automated (e.g. Conveyer belt))
4. ID System requirements
5. Adapters to handle smaller wafer sizes
