Document Number: 6088
SNARF for: Line Item Revision to SEMI PV35-0215: Specification for Horizontal Communication between Equipment for Photovoltaic Fabrication System, including its subordinate document PV35.1-0215 with designation letter change and non-conforming title change

Originating Global Technical Committee: Automation Technology
Originating TC Chapter: Japan
Task Force (TF) in which work is to be carried out: Equipment Interface Specification (EIS)
Note: If a new task force is needed, also submit a task force organization form (TFOF)

1. Rationale:
a. Describe the need or problem addressed by this activity.
(Indicate the customer, what benefits they will receive, and if possible, quantify the impact on the return on investment [ROI] if the Document is implemented.)

-Designation letter change

SEMI PV35 and PV35.1 were initiated and developed by Global PV Automation Technology Committee.
In 2014, Global PV Automation Technical Committee was transformed to Global Automation Technology Technical Committee. Therefore these two documents (SEMI PV35 and SEMI PV35.1) need to have appropriate designation letters, which is “A” instead of “PV”.

Hence, Japan TC Chapter issues a line item ballot in accordance with SEMI Procedure Manual February 12 2016 APPENDIX 5 to change designation letters regarding PV35 and PV35.1.

-Non conforming title

The title of PV35.1 is not conforming to current naming rule of SEMI Standards and should be corrected.

-Block length limitation

Current PV35.1 limits the Communication Block Length by 1Kbyte per Ethernet packet size.
This limitation should be removed so that user can handle bigger data easily over TCP/IP specification.
In addition, GD_LENGTH/MD_LENGTH field size should be reconsidered too.

SEMI PV35 and PV35.1 were initiated and developed by Global PV Automation Technology Committee.
In 2014, this Global PV Automation Technical Committee has been transformed to Global Automation Technology Technical Committee. So that these two documents (SEMI PV35 and SEMI PV35.1) need to have appropriate designation letters, which is “A” instead of “PV”.

Hence, Japan TC Chapter issues a line item ballot in accordance with PM APPENDIX 5 to change designation letters regarding PV35 and PV35.1.

2. Scope:
a: Describe the technical areas to be covered or addressed by this Document development activity. For Subordinate Standards, list common concepts or criteria that the Subordinate Standard inherits from the Primary Standard, as well as differences from the Primary Standard:

Ø Make required changes in accordance with PM APPENDIX 5 to change designation letters.
Ø Correct non-conforming title of SEMI PV35.1 and amend its quotation in the parent document
Ø Revise the length of data block
Ø Also amend other errors and misalignments including the ones which are found during ballot development such as:
-Correct the abbreviation of data block in PV35
-Release assigned STD_IDs which are not used in PV35

b: Expected result of activity
Line-item revision to two or more existing Standards or Safety Guidelines
