1. Rationale:
a. Describe the need or problem addressed by this activity.

The degradation of crystalline silicon solar cells can significantly affect the long-term performance and power output of the corresponding modules operation in the field, and decrease the revenue of the terminal system customers. In recent years, LeTID was observed by several groups, which can severely impact the performance of crystalline silicon solar cells, especially for PERC cells, if treated by above 60℃ temperature and carrier injection, can result in more than a 10% reduction in performance. Usually, the LeTID is higher than LID for crystalline silicon solar cells, which is not directly related to the content of boron and oxygen. The high temperature or strong carrier injection can accelerate the process of decay and recovery. However, there are no relevant test standards for such degradation, and the testing conditions of various manufacturers in the industry are different. Therefore it is necessary to establish “Measurement of light and elevated temperature induced degradation (LeTID) of crystalline silicon solar cells” for guiding manufacturing, sales, application of crystalline silicon solar cells, and it is conducive to the healthy development of all kinds of crystalline silicon solar cells in the industry.
