1. Rationale:
a. Describe the need or problem addressed by this activity.

Flexible thin film photovoltaic (PV) module has features of light, thin and flexible. It has been widely used in the area of mobile energy (mobile energy is the miniaturization applications of distributed power generation, which uses energy storage, control and information communication technologies to realize mobile, all-weather and high efficient energy supply), such as portable solar applications, vehicle and vessel applications and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications. Solar power charging pack, solar skylight, recreational vehicle (RV) applications, solar UAV and sharing bicycle applications are all examples of mobile energy. In use environment, PV module continues bearing complex vibration. When module withstands long-term resonance, failures including appearance defects, encapsulation failures, and electrical performance degradation probably occur. Therefore, it is very important to conduct vibration test to test the reliability and durability of flexible thin film photovoltaic modules in mobile energy field.
Impacts of vibration may damage the encapsulation and cell layers. Also, it could lead to delaminating, poor contact of electric components, as well as short-circuit or instability circuit situations. Those influences would significantly affect power output and security of PV modules. At present, there is no test method for vibration test of flexible thin-film PV module in both international and domestic standards. Hence, in order to ensure their reliability and safety and to evaluate the capability of flexible thin film PV module to withstand vibration, a new standard need to be set.
