TASK FORCE ORGANIZATION FORM (TFOF)
Date Prepared: 10/06/2025
Revised (if Applicable):

Name of Task Force (TF): Digital Twins in Manufacturing Task Force

Global Technical Committee: Information & Control
Originating Technical Committee Region: North America

_____________________________________________________________________________
1. Charter: (State the objective of the proposed TF.)
Define and standardize a digital twin framework that supports consistent and scalable implementations. Key focus areas include establishing definitions and taxonomy, classifying application types, and specifying external interfaces—covering common, application-specific, and security components. Additionally, define internal digital twin components that outline baseline capabilities, discovery mechanisms, prediction quality metrics, a unified model interface, and lifecycle management. The goal is to deliver a cohesive framework that enables interoperability and effective deployment across diverse use cases.

2. Scope: (Define the specific activities that the TF will conduct.)
1. Standards Development
· Develop and maintain standards for digital twin, digital twin frameworks, and digital twin manufacturing application classes.
· Create a roadmap for digital twin and framework standardization.

2. Foundational Definitions and Framework Evaluation
· Define key terms including:
o Digital Twin (DT)
o Digital Twin Framework
· Investigate and assess existing digital twin frameworks.

3. Framework Structure and Taxonomy
· Specify a taxonomy and ontology for the framework.
· Define DT baseline capabilities, definitions, and requirements.
· Define application classes including class-specific DT baseline capabilities, definitions, and requirements.

4. Outward-facing Interface Specifications
· Define a common outward-facing DT interface.
· Specify application-class-specific interface components.
· Specify security-related interface components.

5. Internal Interface and Lifecycle specifications
· Define and specify a unified model interface
· Define prediction quality metrics
Identify and specify DT lifecycle management components
