With the continuous growth in IC size, existing Tray formats are no longer sufficient to meet the demands of IC size exceeding 136x136mm2. To address the urgent need for safe and efficient transport and handling, a new standard for Tray external dimensions is proposed to ensure compatibility with automation equipment and fulfill industry requirements. This standard is expected to offer benefits including reduced customization costs, cross-platform compatibility improvement, and enhanced handling reliability.

2. Scope:

The purpose of this Standard is to specify the mechanical features for IC/Package Tray used in handling large-size IC or substrates during Tray-form processes and transportation. Key technical elements include overall tray dimensions (length, width, height), stacking features, alignment holes, corner radii. The specification will also address automation compatibility (e.g., pick-up zones, datum holes), tray loading capacity, and heat resistance requirements.
